| bio |
In Transit: Two guys and a very attractive girl who love to get together, play music, and rock out. Can ya dig?
The Band:
Jordan Brown: Little is known about Jordan, other then that he plays guitar in our band, writes a lot of the songs, is the lead singer, has another band named The Clap, and is in no way related to Jeff, the bass player. His singing voice is unique - sometimes referred to as "the voice of a scared 6 year old boy" while at other times he has been known to frighten small children in the audience with his heavy metal-esque screams. His influences come from too many different rock bands to mention, ranging from the underground to mainstream. His unique guitar sound, musical writing style, and lyrics give In Transit a very different feel and sound then many other rock bands today. Overall we agree that Jordan is a very talented guitar player, singer, and generally a good person.
Jeff Brown: When Jeff went to a Manhattan pawn shop to purchase a bass guitar last September, he had no idea that less then a week later he would be playing up on stage at an open mic night with his new friend Jordan. After being forced to jump right in to performing he had no other choice then to learn his new instrument quickly. Luckily Jeff was a music major (and Jordan was also very patient), so progress came quickly. Jeff's melodic walking basslines add a special flavor to the music and compliment Jordan's creative guitar parts. His major influences come from ska bands such as Operation Ivy, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Less Than Jake, and Charlie Pathetic. Jeff is also the lead singer in the Laramie based ska punk band Uphill Both Ways.
Kori Wells: Kori represents not only the most rythmic section of the band, but also a majority of the sex appeal. When Kori was asked to join In Transit after meeting bassist Jeff Brown in her Psycology class, she brought with her a humble rag-tag drum set and a craving to "rock out". She soon became tired of the limitations of her old, small set, and upgraded to a brand new "vintage silver" Tama Swingstar. Kori's steady beats create a solid rythmic rock-and-roll backbone, while her varied library of tight fills add good rythmic color to the band's overall sound. Kori's major influences are mostly girl driven bands such as No Doubt, Blondie, The Lunachicks, and The Donnas; with a few hardcore bands such as Rancid, The Dead Kennedys, and Mindless Self Indulgence thrown into the mix for good measure. Her ultimate goal in life is to emulate Gwen Stefani in every way, and to teach little children music in elementry school.
A Brief History of In Transit:
In September of 2002, guitarist Jordan Brown and bassist Jeff Brown (no relation) met and started writing music. At the time Jordan had been playing guitar for about a year, and Jeff had been playing bass for a little less then a week. They played a few open mic nights at Bobby T's and other bars around Manhattan before adding Kori Wells on the drums to round out the 3 person band. Over the next few months, In Transit continued to play open mic gigs around Manhattan while at the same time meeting people and making connections. They had their first big show at Gumby's Pizza and Pub on January 24, 2003 opening for another local rock band, Binge. Their first show was a success and they went on to play at different venues with other bands such as The Blakes, The Unit, and The Clap (Jordan's other band). Currently all three band members are home for the summer in different states (Kori in Kansas, Jeff in Wyoming, and Jordan in Texas) but next fall they are looking to re-design their website, and record their first full length album.
If anyone wants a copy of our free demo, just e-mail us with your address and we'll be sure to get one to you. Early this fall, we should be getting a new website, e-mail, and recording a new album, so keep checking back here or on our old website for updates.
